Angela Macdonald-Belanger

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hello! My name is Angela Macdonald-Belanger and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I have over 20 years of experience working with teens as well as a diversity of populations from all walks of life and have dedicated much of my life to serving vulnerable folks in non-profit, mental health and domestic violence services, as well as the public education system as a teacher, counsellor and consultant.

When you feel heard, supported and have access to the right tools, you can live a healthy and fulfilling life. Sometimes we need help to learn how to do this, and this is where I hope to support you, the client(s). Having worked with people aged five to eighty-five, I have learned that I love to support the growth, healing and reduction of distress and that I have a knack for working with youth in particular.

I utilize a person-centred approach when working with you, focusing on the relationships, both with yourself and others, as well as the ways you relate to the complex environments you live in. All individuals are unique and I use a mix of compassion, curiosity, humour, and various therapeutic techniques to tailor your healing. Depending on what is needed or is appropriate I may integrate the following therapeutic approaches:

  • Attachment Theory

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Psychodynamic Theory

  • Walk and Talk Therapy

I have experience and would love the opportunity to help you with the following concerns:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Grief/Loss

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Caregiver/Parenting Issues

  • Teen/Adolescent Issues

  • Trauma

  • LGBTQ2SIA+

It would be my pleasure to help you create some goals for therapy and walk alongside you as you learn to live your best life.
